About Xiamen University Malaysia (XMU)
Xiamen University has produced more than 200,000 undergraduates and graduates since its founding in 1921 and has 27 schools containing 76 departments and 10 research institutes.The university offers 31 doctoral degrees in first-class disciplines, and 50 Master degrees in first-class disciplines.
Xiamen University boasts 15 postdoctoral research centers. The university also features 9 “National Educational Centers for Talents” and excels in both first-class (5 disciplines) and second-class (9 disciplines) national key disciplines.
Xiamen University has inter-university cooperative ties with over 270 institutions of higher education at home and abroad and the university teaches Chinese as a foreign language. It has become a first-class comprehensive university in China and has co-established 15 Confucius Institutes with universities in North America, Europe, and Africa.
The establishment of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and China. As the first overseas campus approved by the Chinese government, it embodies a unique fusion of Chinese culture and global education. Academic qualifications are fully recognized by the Ministries of Education in both China and Malaysia, ensuring global credibility.
The campus uses English as the primary medium of instruction, except for programs like Chinese Studies and Traditional Chinese Medicine, offering an international learning environment.
